REHOLDER · 2026

Funko Pop reholder service guide.

A cracked or scuffed slab doesn't ruin the grade — but it ruins the resale price until you reholder. Here's how reholding works in 2026, what it costs, and the trap to avoid (re-grading by mistake).

What reholding is — and isn't

Reholder: the grader cracks open the old slab, inspects to confirm it's the same Pop, and seals it into a fresh slab with the original grade preserved on the new label. The numeric grade does not change.
Re-grade: a full new inspection and a new grade. Different service, different fee, different risk — your 9.5 can come back 9.0 if conditions changed.
Do not confuse the two. Many sellers want a reholder and get talked into a re-grade.

2026 reholder fees

CGC: $15/Pop. ~3 weeks. Most efficient process.
Beckett: $20/Pop. ~4-5 weeks.
SWAU: $18/Pop. ~3-4 weeks. Required if the slab carries SWAU's signature authentication.
VVGS / PGS: $15-18/Pop. Faster turnaround.
Your slab MUST be reholded by the original grader — you cannot move a CGC slab into a Beckett shell without a full re-grade.

When to reholder vs when to leave it

Reholder if: the slab has a visible crack, the label has shifted/come loose, the slab has a deep scratch across the face, OR you're listing for sale at a high price point and a cosmetic upgrade pays itself back.
Leave it if: the slab has minor surface scuffs only, you're not selling soon, OR the Pop's resale price wouldn't change meaningfully after a reholder.

The hidden risk: re-inspection

Some graders inspect the Pop during reholding and can downgrade if they spot a defect missed in the original grade. CGC's process is the safest — they treat reholders as administrative and rarely re-inspect.
If your Pop's original grade was generous (you suspect the grader missed something), do not reholder. Run a free Popinspect pre-grade first to see what an honest re-inspection would award. If the prediction is lower than your current grade, leave the slab as-is.
FAQ · funko pop grade reholder service

Asked & answered.

What is a Funko Pop reholder service?
A reholder cracks open a damaged slab, confirms it's the same Pop, and seals it into a new slab with the original grade preserved. The numeric grade does not change — it's an administrative service, not a re-grade.
How much does a Funko Pop reholder cost in 2026?
CGC $15, SWAU $18, Beckett $20, VVGS/PGS $15-18. Turnaround is 3-5 weeks. Your slab must be reholded by the original grader.
Will reholding lower my Funko Pop's grade?
Usually no — reholders are administrative. But some graders inspect during reholding and can downgrade if they spot a missed defect. CGC's process is the safest. If you suspect your original grade was generous, don't reholder — pre-grade first to estimate the honest re-inspection.
Can I reholder a PSA Funko Pop now that PSA stopped grading?
Limited. PSA is honoring reholder requests on a best-effort basis for slabs submitted before December 1, 2025, but turnaround is unpredictable. For damaged PSA slabs of low-value Pops, leaving them as-is is often the right call. Full PSA exit context →
Should I reholder before selling my Funko Pop?
If the slab has visible cracks or label issues AND the Pop's resale value is high enough to justify the $15-20 fee and 3-5 week wait, yes. For low-value Pops or minor cosmetic issues, the math rarely works.
Is Popinspect an official grader?
No. We are pre-grade intelligence — we predict what CGC, Beckett, SWAU, VVGS, or PGS are likely to grade your Pop. The official grade still comes from them. We just make sure you only ship the ones worth shipping. See our 47-point rubric →
