Every graded Funko Pop has four subgrades on the label — Centering, Corners, Edges, Surface. Here's exactly what each one measures, how they roll up into the overall grade, and which grader weights them differently.

What each subgrade measures

Centering — how well the figure sits inside the window. Top-to-bottom and left-to-right alignment, plus figure tilt inside the box. Beckett weights this strictest →

Corners — all 8 box corners individually. Whitening, crush, creases. The single biggest grade-killer. Corner damage impact →

How four subgrades become one overall grade

The overall grade roughly tracks the worst subgrade — not the average. A Pop with 10/10/10/9 subgrades grades 9.5 overall, not 9.75. A Pop with 10/10/9/8 grades 8.5 overall.

The rule: drop one subgrade by a full point, the overall caps at that level. This is why one corner ding can drop a 9.5 to a 9.

How graders weight subgrades differently

CGC: balanced across all four. Slightly stricter on Surface (authentication and reseal detection).

Beckett: Centering is strictest. A Pop that grades 9.5 at CGC can come back 9.0 at Beckett purely on centering.

SWAU: Authentication scrutiny is built into Surface. Witnessed signatures elevate the entire grade ceiling.

PSA (closed pop): historically strictest on paint surface; Beckett-equivalent on centering.

VVGS: Surface (paint) is strictest. Strong rewards for paint-perfect Pops.

How to use subgrades strategically

Why do graders score subgrades differently?
